Hey y’all. I’ve really appreciated all the well-wishing and questions due to my kinda crazy status updates. Thanks for caring – the sentiment and interest is sweet…though I haven’t been able to update or email folks much (more on that later). I thought a quick note with what’s been going on might do well to keep my friends updated… and stretching my neck with a heat pad and experimenting with very limited work as part of the healing process is good for me at this point I think.

It’s like the “perfect storm” for ex- mortgage brokers and ex-cons alike. All of a sudden we have thousands of “loan modification experts” hitting the internet. The truth is these guys have absolutely no clue and no leverage with your lender. The best most of them can hope for is an unaffordable forbearance agreement or a loan mod under a government or FDIC backed program that you can probably do yourself.

The Archbishop of Canterbury Dr. Rowan Williams has urged forbearance upon the Episcopal Church’s General Convention, asking it refrain from ending the ban on gay bishops and blessings. Speaking at a noonday Eucharist at the 76th General Convention on July 9 in Anaheim, California, Dr. Williams said a move away from the commonly received teachings and discipline would be met with deep sadness by the Anglican Communion. However, he remained silent on what, if any, sanctions might be imposed.

The reason you have been getting so many letters lately is right now is the busiest time of year for Student Loan Consolidation Companies. As you may know July 1st is when the interest rates change every year so now is the big push before the change. Pertaining to the question if consolidating is a good idea or not, that really depends on your own personal situation.

Ah, for the days of energy and discipline, when I could sit down and pop off an essay, a tall tale or just a journal entry in a few short minutes. Not only could I do it, but I insisted on doing it, because words are my favorite toys and thoughts are my favorite games. An examined life is the only life, and sharing the results of the examinations is a kind of bursting forth in song. But time wounds all heels and we learn some things ought not be said, some songs ought not be sung.

With so many thousands of homeowners having trouble paying their mortgages, Loan Modification is one of the best options in order to lower their monthly payment and avoid foreclosure. * Going Through a Financial Hardship? * Have an Adjustable Rate Loan? * Looking to Prevent Foreclosure/Losing their Home? * Having Trouble Refinancing? * NO Equity * Owe more than their house is worth? * Looking to lower their payments? According to Sheila Blair, the Chairman of the FDIC, it is estimated that currently there are around 5 million homeowners who are late on their mortgages or heading toward foreclosure.

It makes no difference how careful people are while spending money, it’s possible to incur debt. As per statistics, for the average family, the monthly mortgage installment turns out to be the biggest payment while redeeming the mortgage refinance loan. In case there’s an emergency, or money needs to be borrowed for a settlement of credit card debt, it can disturb the balance between monthly income or cash inflow, and the monthly overheads. As a result, an affordable situation becomes highly unaffordable.

As a student of religion, I am a believer in stories. So, let me tell you a story of how conspiracy theories became believable (not how they began to be concocted, for that is an old practice, but how they came for many of us to be credible). It begins on October 4, 1955. The real insiders know where this story is going. For the others, let me say only that it was a simpler time, a more generous time, a time when we still reposed trust in our institutions: in our government, in the church, in school systems.

A Pet’s Plea – adkinsmetcalffamily.wordpress.com 07/10/2009 If it should be that I grow frail and weak And pain should keep me from my sleep Then you must do what must be done For this, the last battle, can’t be won. You will be sad – I understand Don’t let your grief then stay your hand For this day, more than all the rest Your love and friendship stand the test. We’ve had so many happy years What is to come can hold no fears You’d not want me to suffer, so When the time comes, please let me go.

Yesterday I quoted some from E. L. Jorgenson’s comments in the January 1934 Word and Work . Today I quote, without comment, from his “Publisher’s Page” in the December 1934 issue of that paper: In the midst of bitter provocation and great temptation we have again sought to keep the paper clean of personalities and fit to hand to a neighbor. Had we the Super-human power to read always and unerringly the inward hearts and motives of men we might at times debate and cut and slash and call names,

Mortgage forbearance can be issued by the lender to the borrower. This means that the borrower does not have to pay the mortgage payments for a few months. This is a better solution to avoid the home loan foreclosure. There are many people who do not want to talk to the lenders regarding their financial situation. If you are in a bad financial status, you can talk to the lender.

“The United States is in the 20th month of a recession that has been by far the longest and most severe of the post-war period. While comparisons with the Great Depression are frequent and appropriate (especially if we look at the pace of contraction in industrial production), the aggressiveness of policy measures has significantly reduced the probability of a near-depression. Economic activity fell off a cliff in Q4 2008 and Q1 2009, with two consecutive quarters of sharp contraction – by 6.3% and 5.5% respectively – in line with our previous forecasts.

+ 14th Week in Ordinary Time “ Watch out for the barracudas !” Readings: Genesis 46:1-7, 26-30 Psalm 37:3-4, 18-19, 27-28, 39-40 Matt 10:16-23 Jesus said to his apostles: “Remember, I am sending you out like sheep among wolves; so be clever as serpents and meek as doves .” [Matt 10:16] This was another of the ‘sayings’ of Bishop Casey under whom I served as secretary and vice-chancellor for many years. He was a character, a rare bishop very much in touch with his humanity.

No, not that guy . More like this guy: (Image Credit: Picked up here .) This post goes out in memory of my big beast of a cousin, Kona , warrior king of the remote kingdom of Indiana, who died yesterday after a sudden, brief illness — an attack of pancreatitis , the same nasty disease that darn near killed yours truly three years ago. Kona was a beautiful chocolate lab — serene, majestic, loyal, and large — who presided over a large family and a hyperkinetic pack of chihuahuas with forbearance and quiet strength.
