According to the realtor managing the house we’re renting, there aren’t any watering restrictions in our new neighborhood. That surprised me, since it’s still southern California. I could quickly see that many people there aren’t too worried about water. They were watering in the heat of the day, with lots of overspray onto sidewalks and the street. The watering timer in our house was set to water twice a day, 15 minutes at each spot. Yikes! And the lawn still has brown spots because not all the sprinkler heads are adjusted right or working.

I hate remodeling, partly because I hate living with the mess of it right under me. My deal was, if we are going to remodel, we move out of the house. Fat chance for that. One night I came home from the grocery store to find my husband listening to the walls of our “library” (really a panelled study with oak walls that conceled many, many secrets) with his stethoscope. There was a leak, and he began dismantling the wet panels on top of my books and papers and pretty things as water was gushing everywhere.

Hyperbole Aside, Marin County Has a Whole Lot of Hiking Trails – recandsport.com 07/16/2009 by David DuPont A fairly impressive Web site, (www.marintrails.com) states categorically that Marin County has the finest urban park systems in the world with over 600 miles of wonderful trails. While this statement might be overblown by about 100 miles since a mere 500 miles of trails are claimed elsewhere in the site, who cares? Its clear that Marin County is heaven for hikers.
