For some reason the lyrics of Electric Light Orchestra’s classic, Livin’ Thing , keep resounding in my head: “You took me, ooh, woah, higher and higher, baby. It’s a livin’ thing … ” Followed by: “It’s a terrible thing to lose … ” But let me get on to the review of the financial markets … Investors (or should I say “Johnny-come-latelies”?) last week again favored the reflation trade on the back of better-than-expected US earnings announcements and economic data, indicating that the trough of the recession might be behind us, or at least be stabilizing at depressed levels.

When I was 19, I decided I’d be honest and stop saying I was a Christian. by Abraham Piper At first I pretended that my reasoning was high-minded and philosophical. But really I just wanted to drink gallons of cheap sangria and sleep around. Four years of this and I was strung out, stupefied and generally pretty low. Especially when I was sober or alone. My parents, who are strong believers and who raised their kids as well as any parents Iâve ever seen, were brokenhearted and baffled.

Student loans are two-edged swords. Without them, you couldn’t pay for that degree you worked so hard for. On the other hand, without them, you might actually get to keep the amount you pay out every month for yourself. You might get to pay your other bills on time, afford a more reliable car, or find a better place to live. If repaying your student loans is challenging your budget, or worse, putting your finances – and credit rating – in the red, you might want to think about a direct student loan consolidation.

Saving Your Home or Property From Foreclosure Foreclosure is the legal process that your mortgage lender uses to take your home agent home or property when you fall behind on your mortgage payments. If you are faced with foreclosure, you can work to save your home – or at least limit the financial damage caused by foreclosure – if you understand your options and take the appropriate steps. Keeping Your Home or Property Many homeowners believe that all lenders are eager to foreclose and take possession of their property.

If you are affected by delinquent student loans, you are not alone. It really is not surprising that there are so many people in this situation. What other loan can you get when you are unemployed and have no other means of repayment? The good news is that there are many options available if you are having trouble paying your student loans. Keep in mind, that communication is critical, especially if you are just now falling behind. The first is a deferment.

Well. A Saturday, and a new month. We had thunderstorms here yesterday, and more are said to be headed our way over the next few days. Rain we can use. Storms, not so much. But I guess that we shall just hang on This morning, Psalms 65, 66, 67 Psalm 65 1 Praise waiteth for thee, O God, in Sion: and unto thee shall the vow be performed. 2 O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come. 3 Iniquities prevail against me: as for our transgressions, thou shalt purge them away.

T olerance is a nice word, but is it a Christian virtue? Archbishop Charles Chaput of Denver doesn’t think so, and his claim has occasioned no small amount of protest. In a smug editorial, America magazine recently chastened Chaput for coarsening the tenor of intra-ecclesial discourse. While no call for courtesy and civility should go unheeded, an apology for toleration that ignores its niceties only furthers the intellectual and moral torpor plaguing the public square.

by Kenneth Anderson Brad Roth, an old friend, and well known to many OJ readers as law and political science professor at Wayne State University, delivers a heck of a punch with his new paper, set to appear in Santa Clara Journal of International Law (2009), but up in draft at SSRN, “Coming to Terms with Ruthlessness: Sovereign Equality, Global Pluralism, and the Limits of International Justice.” This article pulls no punches and must have caused a bit of a stir when it was presented at the Santa Clara conference and, as I think I remember hearing, at the ASIL meeting this past spring.

Every semester many students find themselves in a tough predicament because they cannot pay their current loans and other outstanding loans with interest rates. A student loan consolidation enables you to lump everything into one single loan with only a single monthly payment. The rate is an average interest rate of your flexible loan rates. There are many advantages of obtaining a consolidation, such as allowing you to pay a lower , single monthly payment for a greater number of years.

Professor Mark Kleiman of the UCLA School of Public Policy and Social Research suggests that it’s “[t]ime for state-level regulation of insurance companies to go the way of the buggy whip.” I strongly disagree. I spent the better part of late 2005 and early 2006 prosecuting class actions against multiple large insurance companies. This involved, in part, reviewing multiple boxes full of correspondence and filings between insurance companies and their state regulators.

There are certain preachers and teachers in the world today who make statements sometimes, which I find to be simply mind boggling. John Hagee is most definitely one of those people. Here is an excerpt from the Christian Research Institute Statement PSH005 regarding John Hagee.Trying to convert Jews is a “waste of time,” he [Hagee] said. . . .Everyone else, whether Buddhist or Baha’i, needs to believe in Jesus, he says. But not Jews.

Rising unemployment is throwing a wrench into the Obama administration’s effort to reduce foreclosures and stabilize the housing market through various initiatives like “Making Home Affordable”. When the first wave of delinquencies and foreclosures started in the fourth quarter of 2006, it was centered on the risky adjustable subprime mortgages which, in many cases, were destined to failure due to the unsuitability of the borrowers.

Defining the loss mitigation process: For all practical purposes, loss mitigation can best be viewed as a powerful weapon that can stop your pending home foreclosure dead in its tracks. The loss mitigation process itself is without bounds, but always involves effective communication to be successful. If you are too stressed out about the possibility of foreclosure to represent yourself effectively throughout the loss mitigation process, then you need to employ a professional foreclosure consultant.

Bishop Fulton Sheen: “America, it is said, is suffering from intolerance—it is not. It is suffering from tolerance. Tolerance of right and wrong, truth and error, virtue and evil, Christ and chaos. Our country is not nearly so overrun with the bigoted as it is overrun with the broadminded. . . . Tolerance is an attitude of reasoned patience toward evil, a forbearance that restrains us from showing anger or inflicting punishment. Tolerance applies only to persons, never to truth.
